Common Core Is Coming!

The Oregon Departement of Education requires all districts to be transitioned to the Common Core Standards by 2014-2015, that is when the Smarter Balance assessment will take place of OAKS.  You can check out math resources put out by ODE here.  One of the resources, a Crosswalk, describes how the Oregon standards have changed with Common Core.  Many have gone to other grade levels, while many others are coming back that were dropped when the standards were re-done in 2007.

One thing that the Math Learning Center has done to help teachers make the most of their Bridges curriculum as they transition to Common Core is offer free CCSS Supplement packs.  Click your grade level below to download.

Click on the Common Core tab on the right side of this blog to see the Common Core Standards for your grade level.  How are they different than the standards you are used to using?

****DDSD Teachers, please read:
Kinder and 1st grade teachers have already been trained on Common Core and should already have these packets.  2nd-5th grade teachers will be getting these packets as they are trained by the district.  Please do not teach these packets until you have been trained.  Feel free to download and look at them to start thinking about Common Core, but do NOT send them to Skyline, as they are all over 400 pages and the district will provide them for you when you are trained.  Thanks!!
