Money Signs

In the training, we mentioned how the Bridges Curriculum does not come with money signs for you to post on your calendar wall. Here are some free resources that you could use:

Teachers Pay Teachers has some great resources, and many of them are free or only a couple of dollars.  I searched "money posters" and clicked "free" down towards the bottom of the left hand menu, and I came up with a list of 8 resources that you can download.  Click HERE to see them. My favorite is the one from Leanne Prince.  So cute!

Here are some others:
Coin Poster Poems

Touch Money Poem Posters

Money Posters

Pinterest is another awesome resource, if you haven't been there yet.  Just type in "money poster" and see all the fabulous printables that pop up!

Supplemental Lessons From The Teacher Wife

Here are the supplemental lessons from the blog The Teacher Wife that I like to teach in 1st grade.  They would work in kindergarten for an introduction and also in 2nd grade as a review.  Like I said, I used the addition and subtraction key word posters even in 3rd grade!

Calendar Wall Money Posters - Free

Fact Family Lesson - Costs $2.50

Addition and Subtraction Key Words Posters - Free

Vocab & Learning Targets

Here are links to the 1st grade math vocabulary and learning targets documents that are aligned with the Oregon Standards. Much of the vocabulary overlaps with K and 2nd so you can adjust the document as you need to before printing and laminating! I will update this once I've  adjusted it to the Common Core Standards. Vocabulary words and learning targets for each unit are in your updated Math Curriculum Guide.

Common Core Is Coming!

The Oregon Departement of Education requires all districts to be transitioned to the Common Core Standards by 2014-2015, that is when the Smarter Balance assessment will take place of OAKS.  You can check out math resources put out by ODE here.  One of the resources, a Crosswalk, describes how the Oregon standards have changed with Common Core.  Many have gone to other grade levels, while many others are coming back that were dropped when the standards were re-done in 2007.

One thing that the Math Learning Center has done to help teachers make the most of their Bridges curriculum as they transition to Common Core is offer free CCSS Supplement packs.  Click your grade level below to download.

Click on the Common Core tab on the right side of this blog to see the Common Core Standards for your grade level.  How are they different than the standards you are used to using?

****DDSD Teachers, please read:
Kinder and 1st grade teachers have already been trained on Common Core and should already have these packets.  2nd-5th grade teachers will be getting these packets as they are trained by the district.  Please do not teach these packets until you have been trained.  Feel free to download and look at them to start thinking about Common Core, but do NOT send them to Skyline, as they are all over 400 pages and the district will provide them for you when you are trained.  Thanks!!

Practice Book Pages

In your training session, you received a document titled Bridges Practice Book Pages Listed by Grade Level and Skill.  Below, you will find links for downloading all the practice books for each grade level from The Math Learning Center's website for free!  Thanks MLC!  These will definitely come in handy when planning to differentiate either up or down with individual students in your class.
